Tough Start But Happy Now

by James
(Tokyo )

I came in winter, definitely not the best time to come. I worked for a gaigo gakuin that basically sent me out to a new location every single day.

The stress of having to find a new location every freaking day is immense. I quit and got a job as a high school ALT, on basically a JET contract). Absolutely love it, don't want to quit. Not sure if I want to be doing this at 40 but I'm happy now.

Loved it! A Great Break From Military Service
by: Kaile

Having fun or making it fun is such a big part of being a popular teacher. I taught at a International school as a summer school teacher. I was given an opportunity. I don’t have a teaching degree.

I do have a degree. During my years in the military I have taught quite a bit. I love the experience, and I had so much fun. I miss those students. I am now working on my TESOL online course, and trying to get another job. That job was only a temp one. But the teaching bug bit me.

I am hoping to find another one soon. Such a fun environment it was. If you have any other tips I am open ears.

Thanks

Cold?
by: Anonymous

You said it was cold. Tell me about it. I work in Sapporo. You can't pry me away from my kotatsu table after work! Hang in there and drink some hot sake.
