What bachelors degree is recommended to have before getting TESOL certified?
by: John

Hi Christy,
Any 4 year bachelors degree will do. I know some ESL teachers who majored in music and got jobs.
They had the degree and were native speakers. These 2 qualifications are most important.

However for higher paying jobs like university positions TEFL certification, language related degrees and experience carry weight.

For those who are just entering the teaching field, even those with an online TEFL degree will give you an edge when competing with those with similar skill sets.

Here is the url to i-to-i. They place tons of teachers in ESL jobs world wide.

Hope this helps
